Fine Free Library Policy
Library materials are purchased for use by all citizens of the City of Hoyt Lakes. The Hoyt Lakes Public Library establishes regulations for the loan of materials, including circulation periods, renewal processes, and fines for late return. The Hoyt Lakes Public Library Board of Trustees believes that the individual who chooses to keep materials past the due date, or who refuses to settle unpaid fines or fees, compromises to some extent his or her right to privacy.
In order for the Hoyt Lakes Public Library to fulfill its role to encourage people of all ages to read, discover, and be curious, without barriers, fines and fees will not be charged for any Hoyt Lakes Library owned materials.
Items checked out will be given a due date for their return to the library, as usual. If a patron has any items not returned by the due date, the library staff has the right to limit additional items being checked out to that patron until the overdue item(s) is(are) returned. Fees for damaged or lost items will not accrue. However, the library is willing to accept payment or good condition replacement copies for damaged or lost items.
